چکیده

wofost is a crop growth simulation model which can simulate crop growth and yield components of annual crops dynamically in the various stages of growth period. some parts of the model outputs (crop yield and crop water requirements) can be used in irrigation planning and management of water resources. in this study, a field research was carried out in a randomized complete block design with three irrigation treatments (fully irrigation, 20% and 40% deficit irrigation) in the research farm of jihad-e-agriculture and natural resources research center, located in mahidasht, kermanshah. the grain maize (variety 704c) was cultivated in the may 2010. the required phenological stages (emergence, flowering and maturity) for the crop growth model were observed in the field and then thermal time (degree days) required for each of the phenological stages were calculated based on daily weather data. dry weights of leaf, stem and storage organ as well as lai were measured eight times during the growing season. the crop parameters of the model were calibrated based on the measured data. the model outputs in the potential situation were compared with the measured data using statistical indicators including the root mean square error (rmse), coefficient of efficiency (e), index of agreement (d), the maximum error (me) and the coefficient of residual mass (crm). the value of these indices were 1174, 0.96, 0.99, 16.67 & -0.02, respectively, for total biomass at the harvest time.

WOFOST : a simulation model of crop production

The WOFOST simulation model is a tool for analysing the growth and production of field crops under a wide range of weather and soil conditions. Such an analysis is important first to assess to what extent crop production is limited by the factors of light, moisture and macro-nutrients, and second to estimate what improvements are possible. The theoretical concept of a production situation, as m...

Estimation of Potential Evapotranspiration and Crop Coefficient of Maize at Rupandehi District of Nepal

This study was conducted to determine the potential evapotranspiration (PET) of maize, the crop coefficient (Kc) under full water requirement as well as the cause of decrease in maize yield. It was determined that the seasonal PET of maize is about 486.6 mm. The Kc under full water supply was found to be: 0.11, 0.35, 1.51 and 0.34 for initial, development, midseason and the late season stages r...

Effect of transplanting and seed hydropriming on grain yield of maize (Zea mays L.) as second crop in temperate region of Kermanshah, Iran

To save water, get suitable establishment, shorten growth duration and increase grain yield of maize, this experiment was conducted as split plot factorial arrangement in randomized complete block design with three replications at Mahidshat research station (Kermanshah, Iran) in 2017 and 2018 growing season. Two planting dates (10th  and 20th  of July) were assigned to main plots, and a combi...

Improving Spring Maize Yield Estimation at Field Scale by Assimilating Time-Series HJ-1 CCD Data into the WOFOST Model Using a New Method with Fast Algorithms

Field crop yield prediction is crucial to grain storage, agricultural field management, and national agricultural decision-making. Currently, crop models are widely used for crop yield prediction. However, they are hampered by the uncertainty or similarity of input parameters when extrapolated to field scale. Data assimilation methods that combine crop models and remote sensing are the most eff...
